Monet’s Garden

Posted on: 07/22/2015 - July 22, 2015

Walking around Monet’s garden, we worked on documenting the serene environment around us, as well as taking on the approach of an Impressionist! We enjoyed breathing in the fresh air of the countryside and seeing the inspiration for Monet’s paintings!

Marais, Pompidou, and dinner at Mama Shelter!

Posted on: 07/20/2015 - July 20, 2015

We explored the Marais on foot — it was booming with people in the streets and the weather was wonderful! Then we made our way to the largest museum for modern art in Europe, Centre Georges Pompidou, and explored several levels of paintings, photographs, video, installations, and a magical view of Paris! Our next stop was an interesting graffiti wall in the Belleville neighborhood and an incredible dinner at Mama Shelter restaurant, designed by Philippe Starck!

Monet’s Waterlilies and portraits full of color!

Posted on: 07/17/2015 - July 17, 2015

We had a wonderful opportunity to put Tino’s color lesson in to practice at the Musée de l’Orangerie with Monet’s expansive, breathtaking Waterlily paintings, at the carnival at the Tuileries Garden with the brightly colored rides and vibrantly dressed carnival-goers, and in the streets of Paris on our way to the European House of Photography in the Marais!

Oh, and during our picnic lunch in the Tuileries Garden, we spotted and overheard Natalie Portman! What a wonderful day!

Excursion to Chartres and Versailles!

Posted on: 07/17/2015 - July 17, 2015

Today we took a train to the quaint Medieval town of Chartres, where we explored the interior of the Notre Dame cathedral, then practiced portraiture in the entryway of the cathedral with the intensity of the darkly lit background! After having lunch in Chartres, we took the train to Versailles and explored the incredible chateau and meticulously manicured gardens! We ended the day with dinner and photo editing back in Paris!

Our first day in Paris was relaxing with a picnic at the Eiffel Tower, followed by a photo scavenger hunt in groups! After everyone settled in their rooms, we had a French dinner and ended the evening with a boat cruise along the Seine — the weather was perfect and the lighting was sublime!
